Die Unwurdigen Neffen & Nichten - Live (tape, Donaldtische Duckomente Im Cacillien Verlag DDC 001, 1984)

Quite a complex story on the cover which I didn't quite get but this band played at the D.O.N.A.L.D. congress, and they some rock like music, but not recorded in the best way, so its quite nice. Unindexed.

Glad Corp (tape, ??)

A curious short tape from this band I never heard of. Two tracks are their own, and one is a cover of Polythene Pam from The Beatles. I think they are German. The music is quite nice, but hard to describe.

Hero Wouters - Laios/Een Zaak Van Leven Of Dood (tape, 1986)

The soundtrack to a 1983 movie by George Schouten which I never saw, but the comment on IMDB made me curious: "OK and strangely laid back Dutch thriller about a woman with fear of open spaces, who finds refuge in a masochistic relationship with an ex-colleague of her husband. The atmosphere is simultaneously intimate and chilly. The acting is pretty good, considering the level of Dutch cinema in the 80's. Faber, De Lint, Cox, and, to a lesser degree Hardy, do a good job here. The movie is rather dated and that's part of its charm. In fact, when I saw it I thought it was produced somewhere to the end of the seventies, considering the old-fashioned but stylish suits and haircuts. The entourage and bourgeois talk make it fun to watch. Time has certainly changed ("It's going very well with the company, we just bought a new computer")"

The music is great moody electronic music. Hero Wouters still makes music!

Un-kommunity - In The Shithouse (tape, Black Dwarf DW6, 1984)

Discogs says: Formed as a three piece in spring of 1983. They initially played spontaneous music, but later made power electronics and noise music. The only member who could play a little was Tim Gane, who went on to rock stardom.
The group were interested in musical alchemy, as they put it, and ran the Black Dwarf label." Gane later was the foundin member of Stereolab, just in case you wonder.

The Fool - Do The Fool (tape)

Two fools actually: Gerhard Rost on guitar and Gerd Karnoll on Bongos. This has nothing to do with the Fool who worked for The Beatles, I guess. Lots of acoustic guitars, vocals and throughout a hippie thing.

Zanzibars Twist - Basta (tape, Limbabwe 021, dec 1983)

I bumped into someone the other day who handed me this tape, saying that this might be of interest. Obviously it is, since I posted quite some tapes by Dutch label Limbabwe. This one, perhaps the last one by Zanzibars Twist, is very short, just under ten minutes, with three tracks. But with lots of improv/post/punk power.

Dr. Freakowitz Singles Six

From Dr. Freakowitz:
After all those endless posts of cassettes of bands I have never heard from (who does?) I thought it was nice to have a short break. Therefore I have selected some almost forgotten 7-inches in my collection to share with you. No specific theme but just a bunch of singles that are worthwhile (one more than another) to listen to once in your lifetime.
The Static is an early project of Glenn Branca, very No New Yorkish. Mark Beer’s single has a b-side with erased and vanished instruments, just a gimmick. After This is just a nice sounding new wave group of which many were crawling around in the early eighties. The Mumbles have made with Poly Vinyl one of the catchiest pop songs to my opinion. A US-band but released on the Dutch Plurex (I was surprised that I couldn’t find it, even on this blog, but maybe I didn’t search thoroughly enough). Also catchy is Kill Myself, the 7-inch of Il Y A Volkswagens (also a band name that surely make it to the top 10 of the peculiar band names). A whole different thing is the single of The Enemy Within, a On-U Sound production to support the miners in the UK way back then when Margaret Thatcher ruled Britain. The last single was for me the most valuable found treasure in my search of forgotten music: Family Fodder with the jumpy Debbie Harry (and with a dub on the b-side). I wanted to hear more from this band and found out that they made some other nice singles and some albums (of which 2 are samplers) as well, of which some are still available even on the internet.
